The Scientific Basis Of How Human Thought And Energy Affects Nature.

Carers Of Woodland are a conservation group who manage woodland. They have achieved incredible results in returning biodiversity, and are soon to release a documentary on the promotiom and importance of woodlands and their methods of caring for the earth.

Introduction

In a recent report Dr. Miriam Rotheschild examined S.S.S.I’s (Special Sites of Scientific Interest), the so-called "jewels in the crown" of England’s remaining countryside, and reached a disturbing conclusion; that nearly all sites had shown a dramatic decline in plant and animal diversity, and that the main reason for this decline is their neglect.

This neglect is either ineffective or mis-management, or in most cases a complete lack of effort or care. Naturally mis-management has had a damaging impact, for example the environmental cost of the Forestry Commission poisoning broadleaf woodland and replanting with conifers is still being felt. However it is the complete neglect and apathy that continues to lead to so much unnecessary loss of nature. This paper deals with the scientific reasons why such neglect has a detrimental effect, and how by caring and giving positive energy we can return diversity and beauty to our land.

Measuring The Life-Force In Plants

Many people, often jokingly, will say how they talk to their plants and how they feel it helps them grow. This opinion has brought smirks from many people, but there is scientific explanations and demonstrations that this is so.

In the early part of this century an Indian scientist, J. Bose, developed a machine which magnified by millions of times the life-force in plants. He called it the crescograph and it allowed scientists to see how the life-force, the growth rate and vitality of the plants, was affected by different stimulus. Some plants had people being with them and giving them love and energy. Others were left alone, and still others were around negative emotions and thoughts. The results showed that the positive environment had a marked effect on raising the plants life-force, whilst the neglected and ill-treated plants in some cases were seen to die. The obvious conclusion was that the positive thoughts and feelings gave a higher yield and life-force to the plants, but why ?

Ancient Wisdom And Modern Science

Bose, who won the Nobel price for his work, was a scientist of the highest order, but his beliefs and convictions were based upon the findings of the sages of Yoga, the science of the mind, as much as the findings in a test tube. Yoga has long claimed that all is energy or consciousness, which at its most subtle form is thought. It is our thoughts or our state of consciousness which creates the external world around us. Because everything in creation is a manifestation of this consciousness, humans, plants, metal, our consciousness effects and can transform all around us. Therefore the scientists were able to increase the life-force in the plants by their will. Uri Geller, and thousands of others can bend spoons and by thought alone. In this seems too much to believe then look briefly at the findings of modern quantum physics.

Since the release of atomic energy, modern science has accepted that all matter is really energy that has a slow vibration. Professor David Deutech of Oxford University has discovered that at a sub-atomic level all particles are photons of light or information.

Everything is made up of these particles, whether it is organic or inanimate and that these particles can communicate with one another. Quantum physics is now mirroring the ancient beliefs, that everything is reducible to a field of energy, which is constantly sending out and receiving information.

Experiments at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Boulder, Colorado have shown that communication is possible between the human mind and subatomic particles. It seems that our intention, thoughts or will directly affects the outcome of experiments, and as a logical extension it so affects the external world. Certainly these conclusions support the experiments of Bose. The "observer effect" has taken the work of Deutech and others to the same conclusion as the ancient sages, such as Chief Seattle:

"All things are connected like the blood which unites one family. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth. Man did not weave the web of life; he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself."

Conclusion

It is primarily through neglect that nature has suffered. This is no suprise in light of the conclusion that ancient beliefs and modern science have reached: that our thoughts and consciousness directly affects all around us. The lack of respect and care for the earth is surely mirrored in the present suffering of man. What is encouraging and empowering is that we can put right this suffering. It is the reality we have created (who else is responsible?) therefore we can create a new one. It is simply a question of the right application of positive thought and care. Specifically relating to the natural world, Carers Of Woodland have demonstrated what can be achieved by positive energy with a high human presence - incredible growth and returning bio-diversity. As Dr. Rotheschild sadly reported, we know what happens when these factors are not present.
